As part of our BSc (Hons) AI & Data Science program, we are seeking a Professor in Fundamentals of Statistics to teach and guide students in foundational and advanced database concepts.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the Fundamentals of Statistics course, covering both theoretical principles and practical applications. Key duties include:
- Delivering engaging lectures and interactive workshops on:
- Descriptive Statistics: Measures of central tendency, variability, and data visualization.
- Probability Theory: Basic probability rules, distributions, and expected values.
- Inferential Statistics: Hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and statistical significance.
- Regression Analysis: Simple and multiple regression models and their applications.
- Bayesian Statistics & Machine Learning Foundations (if applicable).
- Real-world Applications: Case studies in business, finance, healthcare, and data science.
- Teaching students how to apply statistical methods using software such as R, Python, or Excel.
- Supervising student coursework, including problem-solving assignments and data-driven projects.
- Encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving in data analysis.
- Collaborating with faculty to align statistical concepts with AI, data science, and business programs.
Qualifications & Experience
- B2 or C1 English Level
- A Master’s or Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in probability, inferential statistics, and statistical computing.
- Experience in teaching at the university level (preferred).
- Industry experience in data analytics, AI, business intelligence, or finance is a plus.
- Proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, SPSS, Stata, or similar tools).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and mentoring skills.
